About Animal Liberation Aotearoa
Following the death of Suzanne Carey in February 2008 it was decided to dissolve Auckland Animal Action (AAA). For over 11 years AAA consistently acted as a voice against all forms of animal abuse. They have spoken and acted against the horrors of vivisection, have called attention to the plight of factory-farmed animals, taken action against the horrors of the fur trade, supported and reported the actions of the Animal Liberation Front, spoken out against state and police repression and called attention to the crimes of corporations such as McDonalds, deploring their exploitation of animals, the environment and humanity.
After a short break some long serving members of AAA decided to start Animal Liberation Aotearoa (ALA) and continue our work for the animals. We aim to raise awareness of the animal abuse being carried out in this Aotearoa and get as many people as possible in contact with those standing up and fighting on the animals behalf. In addition to holding stalls ALA plan to do this through workshops, film screenings, campaigns and taking people to places of abuse and showing them first hand what factory farms, for example, are like. For more information on this check out our farm tours and campaigns pages. We are also actively involved in the rescue and rehoming of any animals in need that we come by. We are working to encourage others to do the same to take the pressure off facilities such as the SPCA and give people the chance to connect with animals and share in the joy that comes with helping them and placing them in loving homes. We aim to build up a good resource base to give people the knowledge, and confidence, to help animals where they can. For more information on this check out our animal rescue page.
ALA are in full support of open rescue, the Animal Liberation Front and the Earth Liberation Front.
This is just a taste of what ALA wishes to do so watch this space.
See you on the streets and in the factory farms.
Love and solidarity
